I started building double paddle canoes three years ago. The canoe above was made of redwood taken from an old porch that was being taken down.

From the drawings and plans, molds are made and mounted on a building platform.
bow and stern stems
At each end of the canoe laminated stems are made...an easy job and the first parts "layed down" of the shape.
Planking begins...
Each plank is a thin strip of cedar that bends over the molds and attach to the end stems and to each other at the edges.
